Sir J. Jordan to Sir Edward Grey.-(Received October 30.)
(No. 183.) (Telegraphic.) P.
Peking, October 30, 1907. WITH reference to Tokio telegram No. 47 on the subject of trade-marks in China, I have the honour to submit that there is serious objection to the proposal in Article I of draft Convention authorizing the continued use of trade-marks which have been in use for three years prior to the Convention. It is to prevent the continued use of a large number of British trade-marks which have been appropriated and used in China during the last few years by Japanese that an Agreement with Japan is desirable.
I have repeated this telegram to His Majesty's Ambassador in Tôkið.
